Candles Used After Power Outage In Lower Southampton Fatal Fire: PD
Lower Southampton Township Police are investigating whether the candles caused a fire early Wednesday morning that killed a 64-year-old man.
LOWER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A 64-year-old father died in a Hilton Avenue house fire early Wednesday morning in which his family members were injured, police said.
Lower Southampton Township Police Lt. Gerald Scott said the man was pronounced dead at the scene of thefire which engulfed a home around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of Hilton Avenue.
Scott said the home had suffered a power outage from Tuesday's storm of heavy rains and high winds and the residents were using candles.

The fire marshal offices of Lower Southampton and Bucks County are investigating whether the candles caused the fire, Scott said.
The mother and her two children escaped the home, Scott said.

The Feasterville Fire Company responded to the report of a fire at the two-story home with a victim trapped inside. When fire crews arrived, they attempted to rescue the occupants where one person was trapped on the second floor.
The Bucks County Coroner's Office is conducting an autopsy.
The Feasterville Fire Company said at 3:21 a.m. Wednesday, Ladder 1 was dispatched and crews worked along with members of Lower Southampton Fire Department No.1 Southampton Fire Company No. 1, Trevose Fire Company Station 4/84, and Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company as well as support from our township Fire Police, the Lower Southampton Police Department, and Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad.
