GSK Science in the Summer™

School may be out, but science is
in! GSK Science in the Summer™ brings physical science/electricity to
elementary students at Bucks County libraries



- Registration is underway, space is
limited



Bucks County
students entering second through sixth grade are invited to register and attend
GSK Science in the Summer™. This free, fun experiment-oriented course is taught
by certified teachers to groups of 16 students in two age groups: children
entering second and third grades (Level I), and children entering fourth
through sixth grades (Level II). GSK Science in the Summer™ is sponsored by GSK
in partnership with The Franklin Institute and local libraries.





Course Description:



GSK Science in the Summer™
program will teach Bucks County students about Physical Science and
Electricity, answering questions such as: “How do magnets work?” “What is a
magnetic force field?” and “What makes electricity?” Students will make a
compass and an electromagnet, and will use an electrostatic generator. This
course teaches about magnetism, static electricity, electrical currents and

In Bucks
County, GSK Science in the Summer™ consists of four one-hour sessions that
occur across four days. Class times are Level I: 10:00 - 10:45 am or 1:00 -
1:45 pm, and Level II: 11:15 am - noon or 2:15 - 3:00 pm, unless otherwise
noted.





Now in its
28th year, GSK Science in the Summer™ opens young minds to the world
of science and fosters a life-long appreciation of learning. More than 120,000
students from the Greater Philadelphia Area have participated in GSK Science in
the Summer™ since its inception.

Registration Information:



Parents
must register in person at the library they wish their child to attend.
Students are selected to participate through a lottery, unless otherwise noted.
