Lower Southampton Man Jailed For Sexually Assaulting 5 Year Old

A Lower Southampton man will serve 12 to 40 years in state prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl when she was 5 years old.

A Lower Southampton man will serve 12 to 40 years in state prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a young girl in his apartment from 2012 to 2013.

Jason Dutkiewicz-Hughes, 32, acknowledged violating the girl orally and manually between February 2012 and February 2013, when the victim was 5 or 6 years old, according to authorities with the Bucks County District Attorney's office.

The girl, now 11, did not tell her mother about the assaults until 2017. The mother contacted authorities at that time. In January, Dutkiewicz-Hughes confirmed the girl’s allegations during an interview with police.

In a statement read in court, the victim's mother said the crimes have left her daughter depressed and reluctant to talk about what happened to her.

“I wish she had not been scared to talk to me and I had found out sooner,” the mother wrote. “My heart breaks how she struggled with this for a long time” before speaking up.

Common Pleas Court Judge Wallace H. Bateman Jr. called the crimes “unspeakable” and “disgusting."

“Even though you hope she recovers, she’ll never forget it,” Bateman told Dutkiewicz-Hughes. “You’re going to go off to jail and she’s going to have to live with the scars that you have left her.”
