Lower Southampton Police Eyeing Child Safety Belts

The police department and Bucks County sheriff's office recently conducted a safety belt check at Lower Southampton schools.

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — Police in Lower Southampton are keeping a close eye on whether parents are properly buckling up their children while on the road.

Locally, the local police department joined Bucks County authorities in a seatbelt compliance check as parents were dropping off students at school. Several violations were caught and, in some cases, citations were issued, police said.

Lower Southampton Police say future school compliance checks are planned during the school year. Those checks will not be announced beforehand, police said.

On Wednesday, they were referring parents with questions about child-seat and safety belt requirements to a PennDOT Web page on the topic.
