Lower Southampton Police To Host Civilian Academy

Participants will learn about how the police department operates and have a chance to do a ride-along with its patrol division.

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON, PA — The Lower Southampton Township Police Department will be hosting a program designed to teach residents about how the department works.

The department's 18th Civilian Police Academy begins Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 7-9 p.m., and will run for eight weeks.

Police say the weekly classes will "provide the residents of the township with an understanding of the police department's operations, its policies, provide an insight into the department's operations and to meet the department's personnel."

Participants also will be given the chance to participate in a ride-along program with the department's patrol division during the program. Topics that will be covered include:
