Lower Southampton Police Launch Major Aggressive Driving Crackdown

Police from Lower Southampton are participating in a major effort to crack down on aggressive driving. The aggressive driving campaign launched Thursday and runs through August 26, according to an announcement from PennDOT.

A total of 58 police departments from across Southeastern Pennsylvania are participating in the campaign, which will be targeting aggressive driving behaviors like running red lights, speeding and tailgating.

Participating departments includes police from Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. State Police will also take part.

"Motorists exhibiting other unsafe behaviors such as distracted driving, or violating Pennsylvania’s School Bus Stopping Law will also be cited," according to PenDOT's announcement.

Traffic enforcement zones, saturation patrols, speed enforcement details, corridor enforcement, work zone enforcement and multi-jurisdictional patrol strategies will be used to identify and cite aggressive drivers.

The enforcement is part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by part of PennDOT’s investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The following police departments in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties will participate in the current aggressive-driving mobilization:

• New Britain Township

• Northampton Township
• Penndel Borough

Chester County:

• Downingtown Borough
• East Brandywine Township
• East Whiteland Township
• Easttown Township
• Kennett Township
• North Coventry Township
• Schuylkill Township
• Tredyffrin Township
• Uwchlan Township
• West Brandywine Township
• West Chester Borough
• West Goshen Township
• West Whiteland Township
• Westtown-East Goshen Township
• Willistown Township

Delaware County:
