Man Killed By Train After Jumping Off PA Turnpike Bridge: SEPTA
SEPTA officials said the incident Thursday morning happened between the Trevose and Somerton stations.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —A man was killed after jumping off a Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge and being struck by a SEPTA train early Thursday morning, officials said.
Andrew Busch, SEPTA's director of media relations, told Patch that at 7 a.m. Thursday, a man jumped off of the turnpike bridge and onto the tracks of SEPTA’s West Trenton Line, between the Trevose and Somerton stations.
He was then struck by a train that was traveling inbound — from West Trenton to Center City, Busch said.

Busch said that the Bucks County Coroner's Office was on the scene and that they will determine the man's identity and cause of death.
Busch said there were about 80 passengers on the train. No one was injured, and the passengers were transferred to another train.
He said that, as with any incident like this, SEPTA’s System Safety Division conducts a full investigation that examines the actions of personnel and the functionality of SEPTA equipment.
"Our preliminary findings show all protocols were followed and all equipment was functioning normally," Busch said.
