Annual Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day Set For Sept 22

The day will feature beer and wine, food trucks, various war re-enactors, live firing demonstrations, and a veterans recognition ceremony.

MALVERN, PA – It's nearly time to honor battles fought right here on the Main Line, as the Sixth Annual Paoli Battlefield Heritage Day is set for Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Paoli Memorial Grounds and Battlefield Historic Park.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, located at Monument and Wayne avenues in Malvern.

A Military Timeline starting at the French and Indian War and going through to present day will be featured at the event.

In addition to the timeline, there will be re-enactors spanning from the French and Indian War to today’s conflicts in camps and displaying the dress and items they carried into battle, thanks to members of the Historical Military Impressions and the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Attendees will be able to interact with the soldiers, see the weapons they used, and learn about the clothing and other gear that these soldiers needed to outfit themselves on the battlefield.

There will also be live firing exercises will take place throughout the day.

Other features include face painting, live music, blacksmith and other colonial demonstrations, military vehicles, and more.

A beer and wine garden with libations from Locust Lane Brewery and Chadds Ford Winery, as well as food trucks, will keep attendees satisfied during the event. Participating food trucks include Nick's Roast Beef, Scoops 'N' Smiles, Sabatino's Grille, Big Ben Baked Potato Co., and more.

The event will close with a veterans recognition ceremony.

Re-enactors will march out of camp and will then lay wreaths at the mass grave site of those who died during the Battle of Paoli on Sept. 20 and Sept. 21, 1777.

The Chester County Emerald Society Band will lead the ceremony.

State Rep. Duane Milne and others will talk about the history and sacrifice our fighting men and women have faced.

A bugler will play taps, which will then be followed by a firing salute by our re-enactors.

Tickets cost $10 per person or $20 per family (up to four people). Kids under 5 years old get in for free.
