Homes real estate sales in the Main Line up 2.6 percent in 2015 Q1

Homes sales in the Main Line increased slightly with 436 homes sold in the first quarter of 2015, up 2.6 percent from 425 homes sold in the first quarter of 2014. Median home prices decreased 2.4 percent to $375,625 in the first quarter of 2015, compared to the median sale price of the first quarter of 2014, which stood at $385,000.
The average number of days a home remained on the market also increased 3.8 percent from 78 days in the first quarter of 2014 to 81 days in the first quarter of 2015.

According to a Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach HomExpert Market Report, there were 5 properties that closed in Q1, compared with 12 from the year before. In 2013 that number was 8.
The median price of the properties that sold in Q1 decreased 32.4 percent over the same period in 2014, from $243,000 to $164,500. In 2013, the median price was $272,500. The average days on the market decreased by 58 percent from 100 to 42 days between 2014 and 2015.
