Carbon Monoxide Scare At Malvern-Area Housing Development

East Whiteland and Uwchlan emergency services responded to the development Sunday afternoon.

A building in a Malvern-area housing development was evacuated over the weekend and a carbon monoxide alarm was set off.

The East Whiteland Township Fire Company said on Facebook that its member along with Uwchlan Ambulance Corps, responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Sagewood Drive in the Charlestown Meadows development in Charlestown Township on Sunday at 1:27 p.m.

Responders entered the building, checking for carbon monoxide but found no carbon monoxide using gas meters, the fire company said.

Ironically, the fire company has been working to educate the public about carbon monoxide and other dangerous chemicals over the lat week.

"Carbon Monoxide cannot be detected by smell or sight," the fire company said on Facebook. "If carbon monoxide alarms sound, get everyone outside and call 911. It is never an inconvenience for us to respond to ensure your safety."
