East Whiteland Authorities Warn of PECO Scam

Suspects are calling Malvern area businesses and threatening that their power will be shut off if they don't remit payment.

The East Whiteland Police Department is warning residents of continuing scams in the area, particularly the "PECO" scam.

The suspects typically call local businesses and warn them that their electricity will be shut off soon if they do not remit payment, police said.

The payments vary in amount, but always must be made by using a Green Dot or similar type card which can be purchased at local pharmacies and groceries.
