Get Out: Geocaching, Birding and Art

July 8-10, 2011, edition.

Want to tear yourself away from the TV and head out this weekend?  There are plenty of local outdoor and educational events that are sure to keep you and your friends busy. Learn about geocaching or birding (aka bird watching) through one of the Chester County Library programs, or attend an opening night at Case Gallery. Music lovers have a chance to checkout Loverbuggy at Cedar Hollow Inn.

Introduction to Geocaching in Chester County

  • Where/When: Chester County Library Struble Room, 450 Exton Square Parkway, Exton, July 9, 2-3pm.
  • Why Go: Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adults and children of all ages.  Come learn the details of the game so you can join in on the fun!

  • Why Go: Join this naturalist bird-watching walk through gorgeous meadows and wetlands along the Atlantic Flyway migration route. Learn how to identify bird by color, shape and song. Registration is required for all levels.

Stories from Norway: Opening Night 

  • Where/When: Case Gallery, 14 W Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, July 8, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Why Go: Case Gallery is a photography and multi-media gallery that promotes both local and international artists. This week’s exhibition is “Stories from Norway”—a collection of photography, paint, and recycled objects. For more information about the Case Gallery and this exhibit, visit the website.

 

  • Where/When: Linvilla Orchards Entertainment Garden, 137 W Knowlton Road, Media, July 9, 8am.
  • Why Go:  This Blueberry-picking festival will be packed with fun activities including pony rides, face painting, and costumed characters. Picking begins at 8am, and entertainment will start at 10am.  The pie-eating contest will start at 1:45pm. For more information, visit the event webpage.
