Get Out: Live Music, Bark for Life, and a 5K Run

June 10 - June 12 edition.

 

Not sure where to do this weekend?  Get out of the hectic work-mode and check out some of the talented local musicians at Wegmans, Great American Pub, or Cedar Hollow Inn.  Prefer to relax outdoors?  Take your four-legged friend out to the 2011 Bark for Life, or enjoy a 5K run that benefits excellence in education.

  • Where/When: Malvern Wegmans, 50 Foundry Way, on Friday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Every Friday, Wegmans offers live music and a delicious cafe menu selections including pizza, subs, wokery, and burritos.  This week’s musician is Chris Lebresco -- a talented guitarist and vocalist with a wide portfolio of famous cover songs from the 1970s until today.

  • Where/When: , on Friday, June 10 from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Why Go: Cedar Hollow Inn offers a delicious late-night menu and a wide selection and live entertainment every weekend night.  This week’s artist is Human Rain Delay, rock band that covers everything from Pink Floyd’s “Brick In the Wall” to Sublime’s “Badfish.”

  • Where/When: , on Saturday, June 11 at 9 p.m.
  • Why Go:  Great American Pub offers a wide range of American classics such as sandwiches, pizzas, and burgers.  A broad variety of beer options and live weekend entertainment make the Pub the perfect spot for a night out.  This week’s musician, Dennis Gabrowski, will provide upbeat acoustic sounds while you chow down with your friends

  • Where/When: 3 Southwest Avenue, Phoenixville, on Sunday, June 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Dog owners and their four-legged friends participate in a noncompetitive walk to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.  The event is open to all, and the walk is followed by fun activities for the whole family to enjoy: demonstrations, games and contests.  Visit the event website to register or to make donations. Plus, head to Rita's of Paoli tonight and get a free treat for your pup when you buy one for yourself.

3rd Annual Run for Our Schools

  • Where/When: 7:45 a.m. is check-in, 9 a.m. is 5K race, 10 a.m. is Track Trot, on Sunday, June 12 at Harriton High School, 600 N. Ithan Ave., Bryn Mawr
  • Why Go: The event benefits the Education Foundation of Lower Merion and features a 5K run, 1.5 mile walk, a "Track Trot" for runners under age 7, and a Fitness Fair featuring area vendors.
  • Cost: Registration fees are $20 for the 5K, $10 for the Track Trot
