Grab & Go Planner: Blueberry Festival and Flag-Making

This week, enjoy the wonderful weather and head outdoors to the Blueberry Festival and Pie Eating Contest, or to Whole Foods for the Benefit of Willistown Conservation Trust. Take the kids to brush up on their reading skills, or learn about flag-making at the Malvern Library.  Art-lovers have an opportunity to visit the Brandywine River Museum for a Sunday Free Admission special.

• Where/When: Linvilla Orchards Entertainment Garden, 137 W. Knowlton Road, Media, July 9, 8 am.
• Why Go:  This Blueberry-picking festival will be packed with fun activities including pony rides, face painting, and costumed characters.  Picking begins at 8 am, and entertainment will start at 10am. The pie-eating contest will start at 1:45pm.  For more information, visit the event webpage.

• Why Go:  The Malvern Library is hosting a ton of exciting learning events this summer, and storytime is a weekly gathering where kids can brush up on their reading skills before the start of another school year. Reading times are 9:30am for children age 2 + adult, 10:30am & 1:30pm for children age 3-K, and 4:00pm for babies-23months + adult.

• Why Go:  Children have an opportunity for a fun afternoon of learning about flags all over the world, and get to design their own flag as well. For grades K-5.

Giving Grill for Willistown Conservation Trust

• Where/When: Whole Foods Market in Devon, 821 Lancaster Ave., Devon July 10, 11am - 4pm.
• Why Go:  This Whole Foods Market event promises a family-friendly atmosphere and plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggies burgers. All proceeds go to benefit the Willistown Conservation Trust, an organization dedicated to preserving rural beauty and sustainable farming. Free Admission at the Brandywine River Museum 

• Where/When: Brandywine River Museum, July 10, 9:30 a.m. - noon. 
• Why Go:  The Brandywine River Museum offers free admission for the whole family on Sunday mornings. The Museum offers a variety of exhibits, including works by Howard Pyle and Andrew Wyeth.  Make sure to catch the “Seeing Red: Southeastern Pennsylvania Earthenware from Winterthur” collection before July 24.
