Grab & Go Planner: Honey Fest and Valley Creek Concert

Looking for family-friendly events to take the kids to before the start of a new school year? This week is the perfect time to get outside for some great live music: Lisa Wolfe’s Build a Band will be performing at Velley Creek Park, Willistown hosts the Greentree Country Fair, and Downingtown is hosting a three-day festival. Nature lovers can catch the third Thursdays for Nature Enthusiasts, and Lowes is hosting another Build and Grow Saturday.

• Why Go: This event is a free, outdoor concert featuring young local talent from Lisa Wolfe’s workshop programs. Dessert and bottled water will be available for sale.

Third Thursdays for Nature Enthusiasts

• Where/When: Myrick Conservation Center, 1760 Unionville-Wawaset Road, West Chester, August 18, 5:30 - 7pm.

Lowes Build and Grow

• Where/When: Lowes on 1250 Cornerstone Blvd., Downingtown, August 20, 10:00am - 11:00am.
• Why Go: Every 2nd and 4th Saturday Kids enjoy a fun morning workshop at any local Lowes Store. Come build a free wooden project and receive an apron, goggles, and a project-themed patch.  Visit the website to register and learn more.

Honey Fest in Downingtown

• Where/When: 1300 Valley Creek Road, August 19-21.
• Why Go: Honey Fest is an annual music and arts festival held in Downingtown. The event features an extensive music line-up of talented local artists including Local Dub, Synth Circus, and Scott Wham. All proceeds benefit PKD awareness. Visit the Honey Fest website for more information.

Free Admission at the Brandywine River Museum

• Where/When: Brandywine River Museum, August 21, 9:30am - noon. 
• Why Go:  The Brandywine River Museum offers free admission for the whole family on Sunday mornings. The museum offers a variety of exhibits, including works by Howard Pyle and Andrew Wyeth.

• Why Go:  Willistown Parks and Recreation hosts this annual festival, which features a prize produce competition, petting zoo, face painting and more. More information .
