Grab & Go Planner: Parade, Farm and 5K Run

June 2 - 8, 2011, edition.

This week, enjoy the warm weather and head out to one of the local outdoor events.  There are plenty of festivals, parades, family-friendly 5K runs, and volunteer opportunities to choose from.  Here are some of Patch’s top picks:

 

  • Where/When: , June 5, 1:30pm.
  • Why Go: The Upper Main Line Memorial Association will sponsor this year’s Memorial Day parade in honor of the troops. The parade will feature floats, decorated bikes, fire trucks and cars.  A Family Fun Day will precede and follow the parade in Memorial Park. Family Volunteer Day at Rushton Farm

  • Where/When: Delchester Road and Goshen Road, Newtown Square, June 4, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring the whole family to enjoy the great weather and fresh air, and help the community’s largest organic farm. 

 

  • Where/When: 1777 N. Valley Road, Malvern, June 5, 8: a.m. - noon
  • Why Go: This event will feature a walk, 5K trail run, and plenty of food, drinks and fun activities for the kids. All proceeds go to support The Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America.
  • Price: $10 for child walker, $20 for child runner or adult walker/runner.

First Friday For Kids: India

  • Where/When: 18 Darby Road, Paoli, June 3, 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: First Friday for Kids is the Paoli Library’s free program that teaches children about various cultures in countries such as Japan, India, and Italy.  This week, children age 7-10 will learn about India.
  • Price: Free.  Contact Alycia Gargano (610-296-7996) to register. 

Super Sunday in West Chester

  • Where/When: Gay Street Between Matlack and Darlington Streets, June 5, 11:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Why Go: Super Sunday will feature plenty of family-friendly activities such as amusement rides, games, crafts and face-painting.  The entertainment schedule is packed with live music, antique car shows and raffles.
