Grab & Go Planner: School's Out Party, Day Out with Thomas, and Movies in the Park

June 16 - June 22 edition.

Not sure where to take the kids this week?  Take some time to celebrate the end of a long school year with the whole family at one of the many local events in the Malvern area.  Head over to the Greentree School’s Out Party, watch movies in the park, or enjoy a beautiful ride on the Strasburg Railroad with Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • Where/When: , June 16, 5:30pm - 7:30pm.
  • Why Go:  Come join in on celebrating the end of yet another school year and the beginning of the summer.  This Willistown Park event will feature Alex and the Kaleidoscope, a fun interactive musical act renowned for entertaining audiences of all ages.  The Chester Country Food Bank Back Pack Program for Kids will be accepting donations.
  • Price: Free.

  • Where/When: Greentree Park, June 18, 10:00am - 12:00pm.
  • Why Go:  Bring the whole family to enjoy this exciting community fundraiser for new equipment at Greentree Park.  Registered families will participate in a brief walk around the park, and children will enjoy post-walk activities such as face painint, baloon animals, music, and juggling.  100% of registration proceeds will be used to purchase new playground equipment for the park.

  • Where/When: , June 22, 10:30am & 1:30pm.
  • Why Go:  Kids ages 3-K enjoy a reading session with their peers at the Malvern Library.  Storytime is an ongoing local event that happens every 1-3 weeks, so make sure to check the library schedule here for upcoming reading sessions.  
  • Price: Free.

Day Out with Thomas on the Strasburg Railroad

  • Where/When: Rt. 741 East, Strasburg, Lancaster County, June 18-26.  Check complete train schedule here.
  • Why Go:  Families and children of all ages enjoy a fun ride on a full-sized steam locomotive through the Pennsylvania countryside.  Thomas the Tank Engine is a classic children’s storybook character, and the ride is sure to be packed with exciting activities for the whole family to enjoy.  Thomas merchandise will be available as well.
  • Price: $18, $25.50 for combo tickets.

Movies in the Park: Daddy Day Care

  • Where/When: Ball Tavern Park, Downingtown June 17, 7:30 to 9 p.m.
  • Why Go: This summer, Ball Tavern Park in Downingtown offers a different movie for the whole family to enjoy.  Take advantage of the warm weather, bring a blanket or chair to sit on, and spend some time relaxing outdoors in a family-friendly atmosphere.
