Have You Seen Any Canners in Malvern?

It’s the first canning weekend for the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, more commonly known as THON.

On designated “canning” weekends, students leave Penn State to solidity money. According to THON:

“Canister solicitation, referred to as “canning” by the students, is a valued THON tradition that can greatly support your fundraising efforts when done safely and properly. Canister solicitation can only take place during the designated fundraising weekends.”

The canning weekends this year are:

• Oct. 17 to 19;
• Nov. 7 to 9;
• Dec. 5 to 7.

THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, raised $13,343,517.33 in 2014. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $114 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

The 2015 THON will be held Feb. 20 to 22 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
