Host Families and Au Pairs Celebrate Autumn at Sugartown Strawberries Farm

On Sunday, 09/26, AuPairCare hosted International Family Day at Sugartown Strawberries farm in Malvern, Chester County, PA. Host families and their au pairs participated in the fall festivities including a tractor-pulled hayride and farm-themed scavenger hunt.

The event was organized by AuPairCare Area Directors Margie Lannetti, of Garnet Valley, as well as Beth Lawrence and Lauren Machita, both of Collegeville. “Our area directors are the local bridge that helps AuPairCare support and connect with our host families and communities,” said Sarah McNamara, Vice President, AuPairCare, headquartered in San Francisco, CA. “They are a vital part of our team.”

An au pair is a young adult from another country who lives with a family and provides in-home childcare services in exchange for room and board and a weekly stipend. Au pairs work up to 45 hours per week, offering a flexible schedule that can accommodate an individual family’s needs.

Those who welcome au pairs into their homes are called host families. All host families received an AuPairCare tote bag as a gift for attending International Family Day. Every child took home a pumpkin on Sunday. Host Mom Dr. Allison Rose, DDS, of Blue Bell, hosts au pair Katie, of the Czech Republic, gratefully stated, “The Roses and Katie had a great time today! What a fun family day! Thank you!”

The cost of an au pair from AuPairCare is approximately $350 per week, regardless of the number of children in the family. AuPairCare’s au pairs are between 18 and 26 years old, have extensive childcare experience, speak conversational English, and come from more than 40 different countries.
