Kitchen Tune-Up's Grand Opening Spotlights Talented Local Youth

The area's best and brightest up-and-comers will serve delicious treats and perform show-stopping musical numbers at April 5 Grand Opening

Malvern, PA…The artistic talents of local high school students will be on full display at one area business as it opens its doors for the first time. When Jeff and Penny Toren cut the ribbon on their Malvern kitchen design center, Kitchen Tune-Up Main Line, they’ll be surrounded by some of the area’s best and brightest up-and-comers, who will serve delicious treats and perform show stopping musical numbers.

The husband and wife team invites the public to take a peek at their newly-opened location - 391 Lancaster Ave. in Malvern, and perhaps do some dreaming about their own kitchens, at a Mix & Mingle Open House from 4:30 to 7 p.m. April 5.

The delicious hors d’oeuvres that guests will sample at the event will be prepared by culinary arts students from the Chester County Intermediate Unit Technical College High School, Pickering Campus. The program teaches students the basic skills needed to prep for success in the restaurant industry. Chaddsford Winery will provide wine that will perfectly pair with the student creations. Founded in 1982, the Brandywine Valley-based winery is the largest in Pennsylvania, producing more than 30,000 cases annually.

Meanwhile, musical entertainment will be provided by Great Valley High School Drama Guild students, who will perform their favorite selections from “Seussical the Musical,” which sees the best loved Dr. Seuss characters collide. Performances will be held at Great Valley High School, 225 N. Phoenixville Pike, Malvern, April 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on April 14.

Along with music and free locally-sourced food and wine, the event will include a chance to learn about trends in modern kitchen cabinetry. Kitchen Tune-Up’s marketing director, Sarah Eisenbeisz, is traveling all the way from the company’s franchise Home Office in Aberdeen, South Dakota to be part of the event.

Other scheduled attendees will include state Sen. Andy Dinniman, the East Whiteland Township Board of Supervisors, Mark Yoder, president and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, and Fran Givnish, president of the Malvern Business Professional Association.

For the Torens, having students on hand to present their talents for the ribbon-cutting ceremony only adds to the excitement of the day and the fun local vibe.

“We can’t wait to welcome students to our brand new design center, so the community can get a peek at the great things happening in Chester County Schools,” said Jeff Toren. “We know our guests will leave with three things: full bellies, great tunes to whistle to on the way home and ideas for beautiful new kitchens of their own.”
