Late Malvern Historian Nancy B. Schmitt To Be Honored
What's with that nice new bench at Burke Park, anyway?
All Malvernites welcome! The late Nancy B. Schmitt, historian and author of Malvern, to be honored on Saturday, April 25th. The new bench in Burke Park will be dedicated in her memory in a 4:00pm event hosted by the Malvern Historical Commission.
Ms. Schmitt edited the 1989 100th-Anniversary book A Century in Malvern. She also wrote the book’s sequel, Malvern Items (published 2006) and the book she called her legacy, Malvern Treasures (2011). In November 2013, Nancy passed away due to complications due to lupus.
Her husband Gregory M. Schmitt was a member of Malvern’s Borough Council and its chair when he passed away in 1985. Burke Park’s pavilion and one it its trees were previously dedicated to Greg after his death 30 years ago.
