Lower Merion HS Is PA's 15th Most Challenging School, Washington Post Says

Harriton High School also fared extremely well in the Post's newly compiled rankings.

ARDMORE, PA – New rankings from the Washington Post have looked at high schools across the country and listed them by most challenging to least challenging. The Main Line area stood out among schools in Pennsylvania, with Lower Merion High School earning a great rank.

According to the Post, LMHS is Pennsylvania's 15th most challenging school.

The Lower Merion School District school didn't fare quite as well as its companion high school, Harriton High School in Bryn Mawr.

Harriton was ranked second most challenging in the state.

Other area schools that fared well include Conestoga (5th), Phoenixville, (4th), Radnor (3rd), and Julia R. Masterman in Philadelphia (1st).

Lower Merion High School was also ranked 1,095th nationally, according to the Post.

The ranks look at how students are challenged in the schools.

A ratio of 1.000 means the school had as many tests as graduates.

Their enrollment of 1,442 was complemented by 22 AP courses, according to the study. Their "index" measurement, which determined their placing, was 2.330; the school, therefore, had about that many tests per graduating student.

The high school touts a perfect 100 percent four-year graduation rate.

Additionally, 94 percent of its students attend a four-year college upon graduation.
