Main Line Student Organizes Fashion Show For Kids With Scoliosis At KOP Mall

Bridget Llull, an Archbishop Carrol sophomore, wants to give others with scoliosis confidence and spread awareness of the spinal condition.

Archbishop John Carroll High School sophomore Bridget Llull was diagnosed with scoliosis at 8 years old. By 12, she needed back due to her curvy spine.

Llull, now 15, has organized a fashion show for people with scoliosis who experience struggled with scoliosis and self esteem stemming from the condition, and it calling it Embracing the Curve.

"I decided to put together Embracing the Curve, because I remember how frustrated I was when I had difficulty finding clothes that fit with my brace or made me feel confident," Llull said in a press release. "My hope is that this show will bring together those in similar situations for a day of fun, fashion and, of course, awareness for scoliosis."

Embracing the Curve is a fashion show that empowers young people who are affected by scoliosis diagnoses and will be coming to the King of Prussia Mall on Saturday, April 1.

The show will feature models 5 to 19 years old who will embrace their diagnosis by wearing outfits complementing their back braces.

The show is hosted by Curvy Girls Scoliosis Foundation and sponsored by National Orthotics and Prosthetics Company (NOPCO).

Don't miss it at 2 p.m. in the Lord & Taylor Court at the mall.

Llull spearheaded the event after becoming a group leader for the Philadelphia chapter of Curvy Girls in 2014 when she discovered the organization and found comfort in the community of girls in the area, and around the world, who were struggling with their scoliosis and self-esteem like her.

Llull hopes that by hosting the fashion show at King of Prussia she’ll capture the attention of a larger audience.

"King of Prussia Mall is first and foremost a community center, so we are thrilled to be a part of this inspiring event with Curvy Girls," Kathy Smith, Director of Marketing and Business Development for King of Prussia Mall, said in a press release. "All the items worn in the fashion show will be provided by our retailers and we are proud to support these impressive girls."
