Malvern-based career networking group receives national recognition for guiding thousands through career transitions
My Career Transitions Collaboration w/ Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society Receives National Recognition for Helping 1000s of Job Seekers

Malvern, PA (April 2, 2015)—My Career Transitions’ (www.mycareertransitions.com) work to help more than 5,000 professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area navigate through the career transition process has been recognized in a national award.
The Penn State Great Valley (PSGV) Alumni Society recently won the Penn State Alumni Association’s Volunteer Award for Professional Development based on its sponsorship of My Career Transitions. Through its partnership with thePSGV Alumni Society, My Career Transitions hosts free, three-hour monthly meetings on the Penn State Great Valley campus to help professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area navigate through the career transition process. Attendees are provided an opportunity to learn new skills from speakers on topics covering everything from interviewing and resume development to self-promotion through social media. They are also given an opportunity to network with other members. The meetings are supported by volunteers from My Career Transitions and the Alumni Society. The Alumni Society also helps with funding and speakers and the PSGV campus provides the free venue.

“As a Penn State alumnus, I am proud and excited to partner with the PSGV Alumni Society, Penn State University (PSU) Alumni Career Services, and the Penn State Great Valley campus to offer this much needed community service to other PSU alumni and to Greater Philadelphia area professionals,” said My Career Transitions President Annamarie Walter, Director,Technical Compliance for Sedgwick.

My Career Transitions’ Founder Bart Ruff, also a Penn State alumnus, said, “No matter how good you were at your job, it doesn’t always mean you’re prepared to handle a job transition, especially later in your career. Ruff, who is Director of Brand Management, at Sodexo, added, “My Career Transition’s purpose is to help professionals in the Greater Philadelphia area navigate job transition, so you’re not alone.”

About My Career Transitions
My Career Transitions (www.mycareertransitions.com) was founded in 2005 by Penn State alumnus Bart Ruff, and was named the No. 1 networking association in the Philadelphia region by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2013, No. 3 in 2014 and No. 2 in 2015 No. 2. For 10 years, the volunteer group has helped more than 5,000 area professionals know “You’re not alone” by providing support, tools, techniques and, most importantly, camaraderie as they navigate job transition. On average, 160 people (with approximately 25 percent being Penn State alums) register for each monthly meeting, held on the second Saturday morning of each month except for August and December.
