Malvern Fire Company Helps Malvern Prep Maintenance Team Reach New Heights
The Malvern Fire Company steps up when Malvern Prep reaches out for help with tall task.

By JIM MACK
MALVERN, PA -- It was a windy day on Friday, March 18, when the Malvern Fire Company came to campus to assist Malvern's Maintenance Department with fixing the School's flagpole. The pulley system used to hoist the flag had broken and the Maintenance Department does not have the equipment necessary to safely fix the problem.
"I shared with Ted [Caniglia], Director of Finance, that we could rent a high reach to fix the issue, but renting one can be expensive, so that wasn't our first option," said Director of Facilities Jeff Kinney. "I inquired about our relationship with the Malvern Fire Company and Ted said that he would call Steve LeStrange, Director of Campus Safety and Security, to see if they could help us out."

LeStrange has a strong relationship with the Chief of the Malvern Fire Company and they were willing to come out, bring one of their trucks and help Malvern fix the pulley system.
"Malvern Prep is very fortunate to be supported by the Malvern Police and the Malvern Fire Company. Over the last several years we have built a strong partnership that extend beyond the campus," says LeStrange. "We have attended trainings together and strongly support each other when possible."

"The wind definitely was not in our favor that day, but with the help of the Malvern Fire Company we got the job done, and we got it done safely," said Kinney.
