The Chester County Democratic Committee on Sunday confirmed Adam Swope, a 38-year-old Malvern man, was killed in the nine-vehicle accident. Swope was the executive assistant to Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone.

"Words cannot describe the loss to this world of a man so incredibly bright and kind and funny," Cozzone wrote in an online tribute. "In the last year, Adam worked by my side in the Commissioners office and I do not know how I will be able to go back to the office and walk past his lit up Steelers helmet and his Villanova "V"."

The crash happened in West Goshen Township. Swope was reportedly traveling south on Route 202 when he was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer around 12:30 p.m.

Swope was described as an "eternal optimist who loved his parents, his Nana, cats, the Steelers, Game of Thrones, his fraternity, musicals, weird strategy games, Super Mario, Sunny in Philadelphia, the Daily Show and politics. Not necessarily in that order," said Cozzone.
