Malvern Police Blotter: Smoking Pot at the Train Station

Public Drunkenness... Malvern Police received a walk-in report of a person trying to walk into traffic on King Street the afternoon of Friday, April 15. Officers arrived at 3:48 p.m. and found Ricky Lee Huffman, 51, of West Chester, sitting on a bench at 15 E. King St., intoxicated and bearing injuries due to a fall. He was arrested, cited for public drunkenness and taken to Paoli Hospital, where he was treated for an abrasion on right cheekbone and a laceration near his right eyebrow.

DUI... A 2008 Honda SUV being driven at night without headlights drew the attention of police on Friday, April 15. Police pulled the car over at 10:30 p.m., at the intersection of Old Lincoln Highway and Bridge Street, and smelled alcohol on the driver, Sharyn Hedgecock, 31, of Downingtown. After failing field sobriety tests, Hedgecock was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Paoli Hospital for bloodwork.  

Possession of Marijuana... While doing business checks in the early morning hours Saturday, April 16, police reported seeing a man sitting slumped over the steering wheel of a white 2000 Honda station wagon. "Initially it appeared the individual was unconscious. I did not observe any movement, and believed there might have been a medical emergency," the reporting officer wrote in his report. Just after 1 a.m., the officer knocked on the vehicle window and the driver, Nicholas Bonini, 19, opened the door, releasing a puff of smoke into the night air. Bonini, of West Chester, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.
