Malvern Retreat House Announces a Key Promotion

The nation's oldest and largest Catholic retreat house paves the way for future growth.

Malvern Retreat House is undergoing some staffing changes to meet the growing spiritual needs of the local community. Michael Norton, the former Director of Development, has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Institutional Advancement. He will now oversee all marketing and development functions at the 103-year-old institution.

Norton has been with Malvern Retreat House for 5 years. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Norton, Lipp & Associates. He also has worked as the Manager of Client Services at NBC 10, as a Partner and General Manager at Gillespie Norton Marketing and Advertising and as the Director of Public Relations at Independence Blue Cross.

Norton has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University, and he is the President of the Board for the Man Up Philly Men’s Spirituality Conference. He also is a member of the Association of Professional Fundraisers.

“Michael is a great asset to our retreat house and his work in the development office has helped us thrive,” Malvern Retreat House President Jim Fitzsimmons said. “We now look forward to utilizing his breadth of knowledge further to enhance all our marketing and advancement efforts.”
