Saint Patrick School Raises New Flag
A Marine Corps Honor Guard joined the Knights of Columbus and veterans Monday morning to dedicate a new flagpole at the Malvern Borough school.
parish raised a new flag at its grade school in Malvern Borough Monday morning. The students assembled in the parking lot and pledged allegiance to the American flag, raised by a Marine Corps Honor Guard.
The new flagpole was made possible by a gift from the Knights of Columbus. The school did not have a flagpole previously, according to Principal Patricia O’Donnell.
"Every morning when the kids come into school ... we meet out here in the parking lot and say the pledge," O’Donnell said. "We were just using a little flag, and I wanted to have a big flagpole."

Student Michelle Wince, whose father is currently serving in Afghanistan, read the pole's inscription to the crowd. In addition to prayers, the crowd pledged allegiance to the flag and sang the national anthem to mark the occasion.
