Save up to 80% on hair removal cost by choosing the correct laser

Different skin and hair types react differently to different types of lasers. Selecting the correct laser not only reduces the cost of treatment by 20%-80%, but also prevents damage to the skin. Scarring, hyper and hypo pigmentation are some of the unwanted side effects when the wrong laser is used on your skin. In this blog post we will help you find the best laser for you.

Hair is found on almost all parts of the skin, with the exceptions of the soles of the feet and palms of the hands. As humans we find many ways to deal with our unwanted body hair by using temporary methods such as shaving, waxing & tweezing the unwanted hair. This temporary process takes time and can be painful.

If you are looking for a more permanent option, look to laser hair removal. The laser works to permanently reduce hair in the treated area. Each individual has different skin, therefore it is important to understand your skin type and to know which laser is best for you!

Ideally, the best candidate for laser hair removal is an individual with fair skin. Why is this? The lighter the skin, the less energy is absorbed by the skin pigment allowing more energy to target the hair follicle. This does not mean an individual with darker skin cannot be treated, however the average number of treatments needed may be slightly higher than in an individual with fairer skin.

Now let’s talk lasers! For those with fair skin and dark hair, the alexandrite and the diode are the most effective hair reduction lasers. This being said, individuals with darker skin are not able to be treated with the Alexandrite laser as the beam becomes confused by the dark skin and dark hair follicles.

A dark skinned individual can be treated with an Nd:YAG laser and with a diode laser. The Nd:YAG laser is the most effective laser for those whose skin is darker than fair as the treatment numbers are significantly lower than when using the diode laser.

Now for those of you with light hair, more treatments are necessary to reach your ideal results because there is little targetable pigment. Unfortunately individuals with blonde or white hair are not able to be treated using lasers as there is little to no pigment being targeted. Electrolysis is the only permanent option in this case.
