UPDATE: Crews Descend Into Route 29 Quarry On Ropes To Rescue Driver

Amidst the rainy and slippery conditions Monday morning, a truck tumbled into a deep quarry in Chester County.

EAST WHITELAND, PA -- One man was rescued after a truck crashed into a quarry amidst the rain slippery conditions on Monday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred at the Glascow Quarry on Route 29 at about 7:46 a.m., according to the East Whiteland Fire Company.

A large Volvo quarry transporter crashed into the quarry from the top of a "steep and dangerous" embankment, authorities said. The truck flipped upside down and trapped the driver inside.

With the help of rescue trucks from Abel Brothers Towing and several special emergency crews, teams carefully descended the quarry on ropes, helped the driver from the vehicle, tied him into a rescue basket, and ascended to the quarry to a waiting ambulance.
