
If you're looking for some sky-rotechnics this weekend, you'll find the options are more limited than they were in more prosperous times. East Whiteland had to cut its show for financial reasons a couple years ago. Malvern Borough and Willistown Township won't be lighting any fuses this year, either.
But there are fireworks displays if you know where to look. Here's a rundown of nearby shows:
Sunday, July 3

- West Whiteland Township—Miller Park, Exton. Independence Day Celebration starts at 7 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
- Longwood Gardens—Kennett Square. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. The next "Fireworks and Fountains" event will be held July 23. Tickets for nonmembers are $38 per adult, $22 per child 15 and younger.
Monday, July 4
- Chester Valley Golf Club—Malvern. 9 p.m. This seem to be the only big display within the Malvern Patch coverage area. The show is only open to club members, but nonmembers often gather at Great Valley School District administration building and across the street.
- , Friendship Field. 9 p.m. They can also be viewed from Reservoir Park.
- Tredyffrin Township, Wilson Farm Park, Chesterbrook. Dusk (around 9 p.m.) The Chester County Concert Band will perform at 7:15 p.m.
- Downingtown Good Neighbor DayKerr Park. 9:30 p.m. Part of a daylong series of events that begin with a 5K run at 8 a.m.

- Malvern Fire Company Fair—Monument Grounds (near Paoli Battlefield). 9:30 p.m. This isn't exactly an Independence Day celebration, but it is five days of evening festivities (6 to 10 p.m.), including one night of fireworks. Malvern Patch will have a preview story next week.
