3 Charged In Violent Broomall Home Invasion That Involved Child: U.S. Attorney

Three men are accused of holding a child at gunpoint in Broomall, after one allegedly struck the child in the head with a gun upon arrival.

Three men have been charged in connection with a violent home invasion robbery that involved a child being struck in the head with a gun, then held at gunpoint last year in Broomall, the U.S. Attorney's office announced.

Tyree Mansell, 40, Sterling Wallace, 27, and Jamain Wallace, 26, have been charged by indictment with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, attempted Hobbs Act robbery, and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, United States Attorney Zane David Memeger announced.

The indictment alleges that on June 15, 2015, the men rang the doorbell at a home on Old Cedar Grove Road. When a young child answered the door, they pointed their firearms at the child and forced their way inside, the indictment says. Wallace struck the child in the face and head with his gun causing a severe laceration and bleeding, the indictment alleges.

The men forced a second victim and the child to wait at gunpoint as they searched the home for cash and other items, according to the indictment.

The defendants took money and jewelry from a safe in the home, authorities said.

If convicted of all charges, each defendant faces a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years in prison with a maximum sentence of life, up to five years of supervised release, a possible fine, and a $300 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Salvatore L. Astolfi.
