Broomall Woman Accused Of Stealing Elderly Shoppers' Wallets, Cash At Chesco Store

Jessica Lynn Barbour is accused to stealing wallet from elderly women in the Devon Acme.

Tredyffrin Township Police announced the arrest and charging of a Broomall woman accused of stealing wallets from elderly shoppers at the Devon Acme, crediting the public and social media awareness for identifying the woman.

Jessica Lynn Barbour, 35, of Broomall, was arrested recently and charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking and two counts of receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing two elderly shoppers' wallets and a more than $400 at the store on Nov. 10 and Dec. 14, according to court records.

Barbour was arraigned Jan. 10 and released after posting $5,00o bail, court documents show.

Tredyffrin Township Police Department and Plymouth Township Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the incident, with Tredyffrin Police saying Barbour's identity was made via social media and the public’s information.

In the incidents, police said Barbour allegedly followed two elderly women around the Devon Acme at 700 Lancaster Ave. until they were distracted.

Barbour then allegedly would take the victims' wallets, remove cash, then dump the wallet before leaving the store.
