Chris Wheeler to Speak at the Mickey Vernon Museum
Chris Wheeler, former Phillies announcer and color commentator[left in photo], will be the special guest of the Mickey Vernon Sports History Museum in the Granite Run Mall on Wednesday, June 18, from noon to 1:30 PM. The museum is on the second floor of the mall, near Boscov's
"Wheels," as he became known, joined the Phillies in 1971 as an Assistant Director of Publicity and Public Relations . He began broadcasting games in 1977 and in 1982 was named Director of Community Relations. In 1983, he took on the responsibillity of Camp Coordinator for the Phillies Dream Week. With such qualifications, there are few people that can discuss the past forty plus years of Phillies history with more authority than Chris, a graduate of Marple Newtown High School.
