Delco Man Gets 12 To 24 Year Sentence For Guns, Drugs: DA

Authorities found a gun with an altered serial number, more than $235K in cash, packaged drugs, and ammo during their investigation.

CHESTER, PA — A Delaware County man will spend 12 to 24 years in prison for gun and drug crimes, according to authorities.

Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said Marc Bowman, 36, of Chester, was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years to a maximum of 24 years in prison following a jury trial where he was convicted of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and drug trafficking.

Bowman was sentenced by Delaware County Court of Common Pleas Judge Anthony D. Scanlon on Sept. 24.

The investigation was led by Detective Sean Brydges of the Ridley Township Police Department, along with assistance from the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Chester City Narcotics Unit, and the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office Gun Task Force. Deputy District Attorney Sharon McKenna, Chief of the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, prosecuted the case.

Following a three-day jury trial, Bowman was found guilty of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, a felony of the first degree, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, a felony of the second degree, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, an ungraded felony.

On Feb. 16, 2018, following a long-term investigation, Brydges along with members of the Delaware County Drug Task Force conducted a vehicle stop and Bowman was detained and found to be in possession of $7,450 in cash.

A search warrant was also executed at Bowman’s residence which led officers to fund a Ruger .45 caliber handgun with an altered serial number, a red school bag containing .45 caliber ammunition, two .45 caliber magazines containing ammunition, a small safe containing $28,530 cash, and an identification card belonging to Bowman.

Officers also found a police scanner on Bowman’s nightstand controlled substances that were packaged for sale along with $15,010 cash.

Due to prior felony drug trafficking convictions, Bowman was not permitted to legally possess a firearm.

While the search warrant was being executed at his home, another search warrant was executed at Bowman’s place of business in the Woodland Shopping Center on MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township.

Officers found $184,990 cash inside containers and tote bags and a digital scale containing cocaine residue along with various bills for the business addressed to Bowman.
