Delco Man Wanted For Shootout Near Chester High School

Police said Haneef Payne, whose last known address was Brookhaven, is wanted in connection with a daytime shootout in Chester last week.

CHESTER, PA — The U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force is seeking the public’s assistance in apprehending a man who is wanted in connection with a shooting near Chester High School last week. A $1,500 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

According to authorities, Haneef Payne, 38, whose last known address was Brookhaven, is wanted in connection with the Sept. 20 shooting at 10th and Parker streets in Chester, near the Chester High School.

Payne is wanted for possession of a weapon in related to the shooting, according to authorities.

Payne and another unidentified male were captured on video recklessly firing guns at one another, authorities said.

Payne then fled the scene in a silver ford Mustang which has since been recovered by authorities.

A warrant for possession of a firearm and related charges was issued by the Chester Police Department on Sept. 20.

On Sept. 23rd, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia was asked to assist in Payne’s apprehension.

Payne is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weights 220 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

His last known address was in the 1300 block of Rainer Road in Brookhaven.

"Mr. Payne has demonstrated his violent and callous disregard for innocent bystanders during a recent shooting in the vicinity of a Chester Pennsylvania School," Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. "We hope a tip from the community will assist the U.S. Marshal Service in quickly bringing Mr. Payne to justice."
