Delco Veterans Honored At Newtown Square Flag Day Ceremony
Six Delaware County veterans were named Freedom Medal Honorees during a Flag Day ceremony at the Delaware County Veterans Memorial.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association hosted its annual Flag Day ceremony and Freedom Medal honorees announcement Wednesday, celebrating the purpose and history of our nation’s flag.
Dedicated in 2013, Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association has strived to educate, encourage, and inspire current and future generations to learn about the sacrifices made to keep our nation free.
The event began with the National Anthem followed by a performance of “You’re a Grand Ole Flag” sung by the Kindergarten class of Garret Williamson.

The DCVMA Board of Directors and Delaware County Council announced six Delaware County Veterans as Freedom Medal Honorees, recognized for their service and accomplishments in both the military and their local communities.
The 2023 Honorees are John Church Jr., United States Army; Tina Crowding, United States Navy; Anthony DeLuca, United States Army; Mary Donahue, United States Marine Corp; Richard James O’Brian, United States Army; and Mark Aaron Robinson, United States Marine Corp.

Additionally, Comcast was announced as the 2023 Dedication to Our Country and Community Award, and Martin Holahan recognized with the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association’s President's Award.
"The honorees are a remarkable representation of the most honorable and accomplished veterans in our community," said Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association Board President Joseph Daly. "We are proud to recognize their service to our country and the community at large."
More than 200 American Flags, collected from homes and businesses across the Philadelphia region and replaced by members of Comcast’s Veterans Network Employee Resource Group were ceremoniously retired.
The flags were collected as part of Comcast’s "Operation Old Glory" program, which replaces old and damaged American Flags in the community with new ones, free of charge – regardless of whether the owners are Comcast customers.
