Man Looking At Cell Phone Caused Fatal Crash In Marple: State Police
Pennsylvania State Police said a driver looking at his cell phone caused a crash Friday in Marple, killing a passenger in his vehicle.
MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — A driver looking at his cell phone caused a deadly crash in Marple Township last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash with injuries at about 10:43 p.m. Friday on the Media Bypass at the Interstate 476 northbound entrance ramp.
There, they found a pickup truck with disabling front-end damage, and a Honda sedan with heavy damage to its passenger side.

Police said one person in the Honda was killed in the crash.
All others involved suffered injuries of varying degrees and were taken to hospitals, according to authorities.

An investigation into the crash revealed the Honda's driver was looking at his cell phone and did not see the red light at the ramp, causing the crash with the pickup truck, state police said.
Pennsylvania State Police did not immediately release the names of those involved or say if charges were filed.
