Drunken Man Stops Car in Roadway to Urinate, Police Say

A breath test indicated the man's blood alcohol content was .233 percent, police say.

DUI—West Chester Pike and Radnor Drive at about 12:59 a.m. on March 28. Police were dispatched for a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway creating a hazard, according to the report. When police arrived, a 34-year-old Secane man was seen urinating by the rear driver side of a Jeep Wrangler that was turned off and had no marker lights on, according to the report. Police saw the man unsteady on his feet, staggering as he zipped his pants, according to the report.

Police ordered the man to sit on the curb and police detected a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech on the man, according to the report. The man told police that he had been drinking that night and when asked what he had been drinking, he responded "beers and shots," according to the report. When asked how many, he responded, "too many," according to the report. The man told police, "the car just stopped and I had to piss really bad," according to the report.

Police administered an alphabet, counting, and walk and turn sobriety tests and the man failed each and lost his balance and fell down, according to the report. A portable breath test indicated the man's blood alcohol content was .233 percent, according to the report.

He was arrested in connection with DUI and taken to Riddle Memorial Hospital for a blood test, according to a report.
