Employee Loses Job After Taking Money from Found Wallet, Police Say
The victim's money was recovered in the incident and did not press charges against the employee, police say.

A Dollar Tree employee lost his job after allegedly taking money from a found wallet, according to Marple Township Police.
A woman left her black wallet at the register of the Dollar Tree at the 1900 block of Sproul Road in Broomall after purchasing some items at about 1:18 p.m. on March 30, according to police. The woman returned 20 minutes later in an attempt to retrieve the wallet and an employee had retrieved it and given it to a manager to give to the woman, according to the report.
However, the woman discovered that $203 (two $100 bills and three $1 bills) were missing from the wallet, according to the report.

Police checked surveillance footage and the woman was seen leaving the store and a few minutes later a second woman was seen finding the wallet on the checkout counter and running out front, waving it in the air in an attempt to locate its owner, according to the report.
Then after a few minutes, the second woman gave the wallet to the employee at the register, who then put it under the register for few minutes, according to the report.

Shortly later, the employee was seen on camera taking the wallet into a back break area but first walked into the men’s restroom, according to the report, and after coming out of the restroom, the employee was seen putting the wallet on a back break-room table.
The employee denied taking the money out of the wallet, according to the report. And the victim said she did not wish to charge the offender just wanted the money returned to her, according to the report.
The employee told police he took the wallet to the bathroom first because he had forgotten he had it on him but then laid it on the table after the bathroom, according to the report.
Police searched the employee for the money but did not locate it and checked the bathroom but did not located it there either, according to the report.
There are no surveillance cameras in the bathroom.
Later, police again asked the employee if he took the money and he admitted to taking it and putting it in his underwear, according to the report.
The money was recovered and returned to the victim, who was grateful and did not wish to press charges.
However, the employee was fired, according to the report.
