Felony Charges Filed In Main Line Theft, Crash Incident Friday

After allegedly stealing from a store, fleeing police during a traffic stop, then crashing into another vehicle on the Main Line Friday, three women are facing felony charges and remain in the Delaware County jail.

Cherise Todd, 25, Zakia Nelson, 23, and Jennifer Teagues, 27, all of Philadelphia, face various charges related to the Friday, Nov. 3 incident in Radnor. Those include felony retail theft, felony theft by unlawful taking, felony receiving stolen property, and three related felony conspiracy charges.

Todd, additionally, was hit with a felony fleeing or eluding police charge, as well as three summary traffic offenses.

She remains jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bail, which was set at her Nov. 4 preliminary arraignment.

Nelson also faces charges of providing false information to police and criminal attempt at theft by unlawful taking.

Nelson and Teagues are also jailed on 10 percent of $40,000 bail, court records show.

All three will appear for preliminary hearings on Nov. 16, according to court documents.

Charges were filed after the three crashed a vehicle on Newtown Road in Radnor Township when they sped off during a traffic stop, police said. After the crash, police learned Todd, Nelson, and Teagues allegedly stole about $2,000 in sheets from the St. David's Home Good store before the crash.

Police attempted to conduct a routine stop on Conestoga Road for a suspended vehicle registration on the vehicle Todd was driving. When the officer got out of his patrol vehicle, Todd allegedly sped off and police did not pursue.

A short while later, police received a report of a vehicle crash on Newtown Road. When they arrived, they found a vehicle on its roof with three women outside of the vehicle.

One woman, later identified as Todd, ran away from the scene following the crash, police said.

Todd then allegedly got into the backseat of a passing vehicle and told the driver to take her home, police said.

The driver did not take Todd home, then Todd allegedly ran off as she heard sirens approaching, police said.

She was apprehended quickly, according to police.

The other two occupants, Nelson and Teagues, were taken into custody, police said.

The vehicle crash on Newtown Road after it struck a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for non life threatening injuries.
