The fundraiser has a goal of $50,000, but nearly $12,000 has been raised in just about an hour of the campaign being launched.

"The funds will go directly to The Newtown Police Officers Association account, and then turned over to his family," the fundraiser page reads. "The fund was established in the hope that his friends, neighbors and brothers in blue can assist Kelly and the kids in the tough days ahead."
