Gas Odor Fills Newtown Home Thursday
Crews from Newtown Square and Berwyn fire companies, as well as PECO, responded to the home.

A cracked pipe led to a Newtown Township home being filled with a gas odor last week, causing emergency crews to respond and the residents to evacuate the home.
According to the Newtown Square Fire Company, a home on Bridal Lane was filled with the gas odor Thursday, March 16.
The fire company, along with crews from the Berwyn Fire Company in Chester County and PECO, responded to the home and removed the residents from the home.

Crews read gas instruments in all areas of the residence, but the instruments did not display serious readings in the home's upper levels, the fire company said.
However, high levels of natural gas were found in the home's basement near the heating system, the fire company said.
