The General Smedley D. Butler Detachment, Marine Corps League headquartered in Newtown Square, cleans Bishop Hollow Road as part of the PennDOT Adopt-a-Highway program. Detachment members and their family members pick up litter between West Chester Pike and Gradyville Road. The Detachment has been performing this public service four times yearly since 1993 and is awaiting an updated "20 Year Participant" PennDOT signs at the intersections of West Chester Pike and Bishop Hollow Road and at Gradyville Road and Bishop Hollow Road . This Sunday, June 8, the Detachment will be performing this service for the second time this year. We will also clean the road on Sunday August 10 and Sunday October 12. So this Sunday, between 8:30 and 10:00 am, we will have bright PennDOT orange caution signs and flags posted at both ends of our assigned area, and our members will be wearing bright orange safety vests. We are pleased to beautify our neighborhood only ask our neighbors to do their part and be on the lookout for the Gen. Smedley D. Butler Detachment cleaning crews.
