PennDOT advised drivers to use an alternate route or allow a considerable amount of additional time for travel on I-476 because backups will occur in the construction areas.
The resurfacing of I-476 is expected to be completed early next week barring no postponement of work due to the weather.
The contractor will resurface areas of I-476 North from just south of Route 3 (West Chester Pike) to Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and from the County Line Road overpass to just south of the I-76 Interchange.
On I-476 South, crews will pave from the I-76 Interchange to the Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) Interchange; from the bridge over Darby Creek to the Marple Road overpass; and from the Route 3 (West Chester Pike) Interchange to approximately a mile south of Route 3 (West Chester Pike).
The $1,827,777 pavement improvement project is financed with state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania’s new transportation plan. Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the project.
