Man Struck By Lightning in Delaware County: Reports

Witnesses say a Broomall man was struck by lightning on Hastings Boulevard while he was walking his dog Wednesday evening.

Delaware County officials are investigating after a man may have been struck by lightning in Broomall on Wednesday.

Witnesses tell CBS Philly the 52-year-old man was walking his dog during a storm when lightning suddenly struck and the man fell over. He was rushed via ambulance to the hospital.

However, Marple Township Police said they are not certain if the man was struck by lightning or had a medical emergency, NBC 10 reported.

The investigation into the incident continues. The man remains hospitalized with unknown injuries but was said to be “conscious and alert,” CBS Philly said.

The National Weather Service had issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the region on Wednesday evening.
