Man Wanted After Marple Cops Find Drugs, Guns, More In Home Taken In

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — The man wanted by Marple Police on gun and drug charges after already being charged with strangulation, robbery, and more was taken into custody.

Court records show Dwayne Wright, 37, of Darby, appeared in court on charges of drug possession, prohibited possession of firearms, drug paraphernalia possession, and other crimes.

Those charges followed an Aug. 31 search of Wright's residence, which stemmed from an Aug. 30 incident that led to the strangulation and other charges being filed.

On Aug. 31, Marple Police and the Region 1 SWAT team executed a search warrant on Wright’s residence.

Police seized four firearms, about 18 grams of suspected cocaine, drug packaging material, cash, and a shoe matching one that was left behind during the assault, authorities said.

Court records show Wright posted 10 percent of $75,000 bail on Sept. 7.

The strangulation, robbery, and related charged filed against him stemmed from an Aug. 30 incident on Fourth Avenue in Marple Township.

At about 4:37 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, police were called to Fourth Avenue for a report of an assault in progress.

While police were heading to the area, they learned the suspect, later identified as Wright, left the area in a gray Ford sedan.

Police spoke with two adult victims and a juvenile victim, all of whom said they were assaulted by Wright.

The victims also told police wright stole one of the victim's cell phones.

Wright was taken into custody in Colwyn Borough a short while later and charged with strangulation, robbery, assault, and related charges.

Wright's bail was set at 10 percent of $20,000, but he posted bail Aug. 31 and was released, police said.

Police were looking for Wright after he posted the bail and they executed the search warrant.

Records show he was taken into custody Sept. 6.
