MNSD Launches New Bus Safety Program

The Marple Newtown School District is partnering with BusPatrol to help improve bus safety for students going to and from school.

MARPLE-NEWTOWN, PA — The Marple Newtown School District is launching a new school bus safety program that aims to create safer rides for students.

The district is partnering with BusPatrol to add safety technology to all district buses.

New safety features include stop-arm enforcement cameras to detect vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses.

This safety initiative will curb dangerous motorist behavior and make the ride to and from school safer for all student riders, Marple Township Police said.

Those illegally pass stopped school buses will be mailed a notice of the violation. Vehicle owners are legally responsible for the violation per the law.

Those found in violation will be subject to a $300 fine.

Disagreements, and/or payments related to the violation, are handled by BusPatrol.
