ABOUT THE PROJECT In May 2020, PECO began a Natural Gas Reliability Project in Montgomery and Delaware counties to continue to meet the growing needs of our customers. As part of the 11.5 mile project, we are installing approximately one and a half miles of new natural gas main in Marple Township and a natural gas reliability station on Sproul Road, as well as upgrading our natural gas plant in West Conshohocken.
NATURAL GAS SAFETY REMINDERS With cooler temperatures and the heating season upon us, PECO customers will be using more natural gas to heat their homes and businesses. Here are important points to remember:

Heating systems should be checked now and inspected by a qualified technician to ensure safe and efficient operation for the season ahead.
Natural gas has no natural odor, so an odorant is added to help detect when a leak occurs. The odorant injected gives it a distinctive, rotten-egg odor.
Promptly reporting a natural gas odor plays a critical role in ensuring safety. If you smell natural gas inside or out, do not turn any electrical switches on or off and do not smoke, strike a match or use a lighter.
